Thornden School announces new headteacher for September 2024

A new headteacher has been announced for a secondary school in Chandler’s Ford.

Caroline Lowing will take on the role of leading Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ Thornden School in September 2024 after being appointed as interim head of school in January 2023.

Ms Lowing has over 20 years of experience in education and school improvement, and her appointment as headteacher will support the school and its wider networks to continue its success.

Thornden School’s newest appointment said she is honoured to be stepping into this role and has ambitious goals for the school’s progression.

Caroline said: “Thornden is a thriving, oversubscribed school and is on the path to flourishing into a truly outstanding secondary school. I’m delighted to take on this opportunity to lead Thornden and its parent and pupil community as it develops and grows.

“I’m looking forward to building new relationships, setting high aspirations, and building a vibrant and happy school community.”

Interim CEO of HISP multi-academy trust, David Pike, said: “Caroline is a skilled and diligent leader when it comes to school improvement. I’m incredibly pleased that she is taking on the role of headteacher at Thornden School.

“I would like to invite our parent community and fellow colleagues to join me in wishing Caroline the very best of luck.”

Thornden School is based in Chandler’s Ford in Eastleigh and is a member of HISP multi-academy trust.
