The Academy of St Nicholas partners with Liverpool John Lennon Airport to shape future careers for students
The Academy of St Nicholas, Garston, has formed an inspiring new partnership with Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA), aimed at providing students with invaluable insights into the world of work and career opportunities within the aviation industry.
The partnership will see students engaging in a series of employer-led encounters, interactive workshops, and on-site visits to the airport, where they can interact with staff from various departments at LJLA.
These experiences are designed to enrich students’ understanding of careers and employability, fostering an aspirational environment that will fuel their ambitions and develop essential skills for the workplace.
Mr Gary Lloyd, headteacher of The Academy of St Nicholas, said: “We are thrilled to be working with a prestigious and prominent employer such as Liverpool John Lennon Airport, especially given the academy’s close proximity to the airport.
“This partnership will open doors for our students, allowing them to discover a variety of career opportunities while gaining firsthand experience in an interesting and growing sector right in the heart of their own community.”
An event was held recently at the academy to celebrate the launch of the partnership. CEO of LJLA, John Irving, together with senior directors and managers from the airport were in attendance, engaging with students and sharing more about the airport’s operations and career pathways through fun speed-networking sessions.
John Irving, CEO Liverpool John Lennon Airport, commented: “We’re delighted to be developing this new partnership with The Academy of St Nicholas as part of our community strategy. Students at the academy are potentially the airport employees of the future and we hope that we can help improve their understanding of the diverse mix of careers and opportunities available at the airport.
“It will also prove really beneficial and rewarding for the various colleagues at the airport who will be working with the students, developing their own skill set and helping to make a difference in our local community too.”
Miss Caroline Swarbrick, trust careers and employability manager at All Saints Multi Academy Trust, added: “This initiative is a significant step in bridging the gap between education and employment, equipping students with the tools and experiences necessary to thrive in today’s job market.
“We look forward to working closely with Liverpool John Lennon Airport to inspire and empower our students.”
