The Academy of St Francis of Assisi achieve GCSE success

Year 11 students from The Academy of St Francis of Assisi, part of All Saints Multi Academy Trust, returned to the Kensington-based school to pick up their GCSE results this morning.
After having to endure a couple of years of abnormal learning environments due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, students were incredibly relieved this morning as they were finally able to bask in their GCSE success.
This year, students across the UK were able to sit their exams as normal instead of having their grades determined by teacher assessments like the previous two cohorts.
Some highlights from the day include:
Student Jamie Chen, who achieved seven grade 9s, a grade 8, a grade 7 and a level 2 distinction in BTEC digital information technology.
Valery Kay, who gained two grade 8s, three grade 7s, two grade 6s, one grade 5, together with a level 2 distinction in BTEC enterprise and in Constructing the Built Environment.
Remi Wincely Sahayaraj, who secured a grade 9 in maths, two grade 8s, two grade 7s, two grade 6s and a grade 5, along with a level 2 distinction in BTEC enterprise.
And fellow student Hasting Mejeed received four grade 8s, four grade 7s and two grade 6s, and Lina Taha achieved two grade 9s, four grade 8s and three grade 7s.
A number of students will be staying within All Saints Multi Academy Trust and progressing onto All Saints Sixth Form College in Garston, whilst others will be embarking on apprenticeships, the world of work or heading to a different college.
Colette Singleton, head of the school, said: “Our Year 11 students have had to adapt to a lot of changes since the beginning of the pandemic and they have handled it so professionally.
“We are incredibly proud of all of them and the grades that they have achieved. They have worked very hard for this so it is lovely to be able to celebrate that today.
“We wish our students the very best of luck in what they each decide to do next. It has been a pleasure having them at The Academy of St Francis of Assisi.”
