The cream of St Margaret’s School’s sporting stars were honoured last night at a glittering awards evening held at the Marriott Hotel in the city centre.
Around 240 of the school’s top achievers joined staff and parents to celebrate another fantastic year of sporting achievement which included league and individual honours, as well national and international recognition in a range of sports.
Notable winners included Rhys Northover and Daniel Entwistle who both received Outstanding Achievement in Sport awards with the former ranked in the top ten of the world for trampolining.
Year 10 pupil Charlie Jolley was a multiple winner and he also took home the Outstanding Contribution to Sport from Year 7-10 award.
Expertly hosted by Director of Pastoral Care, Robbie Lawton, the evening included goodwill video messages from presenters at both BT Sport and Sky Sports, a Q&A with former pupil and current first team physio at Leicester City FC, Simon Murphy, as well as an inspirational talk from skater Jenna Downing, who bravely defied a diagnosis of MS to achieve her dream of becoming world champion.
The event concluded with a special award of recognition for Rob Kingston, who has reached 30 years’ service at the Aigburth School. The hugely popular PE teacher received a standing ovation from the room in recognition of his tremendous contribution during the past three decades.
