Set your imagination free in Rudston’s place between
A multi-sensory, interactive exhibition based around the “magical text” of the book ‘Leon and the Place Between’ by Grahame Baker-Smith has gone on display in Rudston School.
As part of a school focus to improve writing, the collaborative project has seen children from all school years work with staff along with outside agencies including Hope University, the Travelling Companions Theatre, The Solo Circus as well as local artists and sculptors to create the stunning exhibition.
Visitors get to walk through a magical land as pupils act out parts of the book. There are also hundreds of pieces of creative writing based to enjoy inspired by the book’s theme of magic and imagination and all are written on objects created by the children.
A school spokesperson said: “The exhibition is part of our focus on improving writing. We are trying as a school to provide our children and families with rich, engaging writing and reading experiences to inspire writing across the curriculum.
” We have researched, visited other schools and dedicated time in staff meetings and training in preparing for this event.”
The exhibition will remain on display in school until the end of June.
