SENDSCOPE tuition and training centre set to open to students

An innovative and registered, tuition and training centre, supporting neurodiverse young people in Years 6, 7 and 8 is preparing to open its doors in the grounds of Saint Francis Xavier College (SFX), Woolton.
SENDSCOPE provides tuition for neuro developmental young people, enabling them to develop the necessary skills and strategies in order to access a mainstream education or transition into specialist education. Taking pride in being a bridging provision that avoids lost learning, SENDSCOPE also offers professional development and training to schools, parents and carers; at SENDSCOPE, ‘every moment matters’.
With specialisms in SEND and teaching and learning, principals of SENDSCOPE, Jacqueline Bebbington and Natalie Walsh promote inclusion, reasonable adjustments and quality first classroom teaching with equitable access for all. SENDSCOPE is a short-term placement for six to twelve weeks where young people can develop the confidence, resilience and self-belief required in order to flourish in an educational setting.
Natalie Walsh, SENDSCOPE Principal, said: “SENDSCOPE caters for young people with or without an educational health and care plan, and is committed to meeting the needs of all students so their learning is targeted and effective in order to achieve the best possible outcomes.
“Alongside their academic curriculum, their well-being programme offers transferable life skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. With their core values, diversity, inclusion and opportunity, SENDSCOPE aims to increase the understanding of neurodiversity and improve the educational experiences of neurodivergent young people.”
Since September, SENDSCOPE have worked in partnership with Saint Francis Xavier’s College on SEND/Whole School Improvement, motivating and inspiring staff to help implement changes.
David Hayes, headteacher at SFX said: “SFX is committed to improving outcomes for all students, including those with SEND, and echoes how we are all teachers of SEND and ‘Good teaching for pupils with SEND is good teaching for all.’ SENDSCOPE at SFX will offer a holistic approach to learning for neurodiverse students and provide staff with CPD opportunities along with parent/carer workshops.”
