Record GCSE and BTEC results for St Margaret’s Church of England Academy

St Margaret’s Church of England Academy, Aigburth, marks another exceptional year of GCSE and BTEC results.

Students, together with their loved ones, came to the school this morning (22 August) to collect their long-awaited results. Staff and senior leaders were on hand to provide support and guidance as students planned their next steps.

The academy, which is part of All Saints Multi Academy Trust, saw a significant three per cent increase in the number of students securing grades 9s compared to last year, and a two per cent increase in students securing grades 9-8 compared to 2023.

There were excellent outcomes in core subjects. In maths, 63 per cent of students obtained grades 9-5 and 68 per cent of students achieved grades 9-5 in English literature. There were exceptional performances in biology, chemistry and physics, with over 80 per cent, 73 per cent and 83 per cent of students obtaining grades 9-5 respectively.

In creative subjects such as music and photography, over 82 per cent and 77 per cent of students obtained grades 9-5 respectively.

In addition, there were impressive BTEC results, with over 53 per cent of students achieving distinction* and merit grades.

In September, many of this year’s cohort will go on to study A-level and BTEC courses at St Margaret’s Church of England Sixth Form. Others have chosen to explore alternative pathways including apprenticeship opportunities.

Will Baker achieved an incredible ten grade 9s across maths, English, separate sciences, computer science and history.

Sam Deng secured eight grade 9s from the nine subjects he studied, including top grades in music and religious studies.

Sam said: “Thank you to all my teachers who have done so much extra work to help me. I’m really proud of my results and I can’t wait to get started in the sixth form.”

Jesbin Babu secured fantastic grades his nine subjects, with the very top grades in six of them including history and business studies.

Jesbin said: “I feel really proud and want to go into a science-orientated field in the future. I’m excited about my next steps.”

Matthew Jones achieved an excellent set of results. Five of his nine GCSEs were awarded the very top grades and included maths, chemistry and biology, which he will continue to study at St Margaret’s Church of England Sixth Form.

Matthew said: “I’m over the moon with my results and want to thank my English and science teachers who have helped so much.”

Headteacher, Mr Adam Robinson, said: “This day is all about recognising the resilience and hard work our students have shown. Their success is a reflection of their determination and also the encouragement they’ve received from both staff and their families.

“We couldn’t be prouder and we are eager to see them embrace the opportunities that lie ahead of them.”

Mr Robinson added: “We’re excited to welcome many of our students back in September as they begin their journey at St Margaret’s Church of England Sixth Form.”
