Rainford High celebrate outstanding GCSE and BTEC results

Students from Rainford High proudly collected their GCSE and BTEC results today (22 August), marking another record-breaking year for the school.

Rainford High has seen a significant increase in the number of top grades, with many students achieving exceptional results across a wide range of subjects.

This year, 72 per cent of students achieved grades 9-4 in English and mathematics, while 48 per cent attained a grade 5 and above in maths and English. 22 per cent of all grades are at grade 7 or above, 58 per cent at grade 5 or above, while 76 per cent are at grade 4 or above.

Amongst those receiving their results are twins, Henry and Alistair Ballad, who attained 14 grade 9s between them, with Henry gaining grade 9s in English language and English literature, mathematics, further mathematics, biology, chemistry, French, physics and geography. Alistair scored top grades in mathematics, further mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics.

Kirsten Turner obtained grade 9s in maths, biology, chemistry, French, physics, Spanish and geography, plus grade 8s in English language and English literature.

Sam Poulter secured grade 9s in English language, maths, further maths, biology, chemistry, geography, physics and Spanish, as well as a grade 8 in English literature and a distinction in graphics.

In addition to starring in the school production of High School Musical this year, Charlotte Grainger and Seamus Kennedy celebrated excellent GCSE results.

Charlotte achieved grade 9s in English language, biology and geography, grade 8s in English literature, maths, chemistry and physics, a grade 7 in Spanish and a distinction in performing arts.

Charlotte said: “Rainford High is a special place. I had the freedom to get support when I needed it most which is why I am staying and enrolling at Rainford High Sixth Form.”

Seamus attained grade 9s in English language, maths, geography and physics, grade 8s in English literature, biology, further maths, chemistry and Spanish, plus a distinction in performing arts.

Students will now join Rainford High Sixth Form and start their A-level and BTEC journeys in September.
