Pupils on the road to a career
West Derby School is holding a careers event, which will be directed with parents in mind.
The Think Logistics – Career Ready initiative will be held at the school as part of the parents evening for Year 7, Year 12 and Year 13 students.
Event organizer, Kate Forrest said: “We have realised that in order to broaden the knowledge of what we are trying to achieve we need to promote what we are doing to the parents of the students we are trying to help.
“We will have a stand set up in the main event room and a video presentation running. This will allow us the opportunity to speak to the parents while they are waiting to be seen by the form teachers.
“We estimate between 150 to 200 parents will attend and this will provide us with a great opportunity to engage with them and highlight the fantastic careers we are able to offer.
“We will also be trying to identify any parents who work within the logistics industry to see if they can get their employers involved going forward. We will also be seeking feedback from the parents about the evening. If it proves a success, then it is something we would look to do on a regular basis at future parents evenings”.
