Pupils get hands on with the Royal Navy

The pupils from Faith Primary School, Liverpool were invited to pay a visit to HMS Mersey as part of a broad and balanced curriculum offer. The ship was named after the River Mersey, and is the first to be named Mersey in 84 years and patrols the waters of the UK.

Assistant headteacher, Jo Costello said: “The children enjoyed learning about HMS Mersey and its role in the Royal Navy. They used mapping skills to identify how the River Mersey was a gateway to the oceans and seas in which this vessel protects fishing as its primary aim.

“Our high quality geography curriculum aims to inspire pupils curiosity and fascination about the world. We are keen to equip our children with knowledge about diverse places and resources together with a deep understanding of the earth’s key physical and human processes”.
