Local residential centre wins national award
School residential trip provider, Conway Centres, has won a national award at this year’s School Travel Awards.
On 6 June 2023, members of the Conway Centres team made their way to The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London for the awards ceremony where they were presented with the ‘Best Residential Experience’ award by Olympian and broadcaster Katharine Merry.
Edsential’s Conway Centres, co-owned by Wirral Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council, welcomes more than 20,000 children and young people every year for an adventure-filled residential stay at the four centres across Cheshire and North Wales.
Maria McQuillan, head of guest experience at Conway Centres, said:
“The awards were an excellent opportunity for us all to celebrate and recognise the people, schools, and businesses that make up the school travel industry.
“We are so pleased to win The Best Residential Experience at this year’s awards. A huge thank you to our schools who nominated us as well as our staff who provide the best residential experience.”
The School Travel Awards is a yearly event, hosted by School Travel Organiser, that recognises and celebrates the school travel industry and the many benefits that school trips have on children and young people.
Keeley Rodgers, editor of School Travel Organiser, said: “The Best Residential Experience category is always hotly contested so huge congratulations to Conway Centres for receiving the most votes to win this award.
“Residentials are so important and have such a positive impact on children. Taking them out of their comfort zone allows them to build in confidence, work together in teams and learn new skills.
“It’s fantastic to hear that Conway Centres are creating opportunities for children to have such memorable experiences.”
