Liverpool FC icon to open new college
Liverpool FC icon Robbie Fowler has announced that he will open an education and football academy on Merseyside.
The Fowler Education and Football Academy (FEFA) will be a college for 16-19 year olds and will provide students with an environment to excel in football, in both playing and coaching. The college will follow the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) set by the Premier League to provide excellent coaching, support and evaluation. However, the college will also have a strong academic focus to help students gain more qualifications.
The courses will include the following qualifications: Sport and Exercise Science level 2 and 3; FA coaching qualifications; gym instructor; personal trainer; lifeguard and enterprise and entrepreneurship.
The Fowler Education and Football Academy will also use Robbie’s close contacts with footballing figures to offer access to guest speakers such as top Premier League coaches, sport psychologists, strength and conditioning coaches as well as ex-Liverpool and Everton players.
Robbie says: “I am passionate about helping young people to receive the best of both worlds; a great academic and football education. The teaching and coaching will be fantastic and we want to inspire them to achieve their best.”
FEFA will be a partnership between Robbie Fowler and football coach and teacher, Brian McGorry. Brian has extensive experience in football and education, with his company, EducateMe working with many schools throughout Merseyside, including St Margaret’s and Cardinal Heenan sixth form.
Brian adds: “This course will dramatically improve our student’s academic and football knowledge. They will be taught by outstanding teachers and coached by UEFA A licence coaches and ex-professional footballers. They will really enjoy the course and we will give them a route into employment and higher education.”
