Liverpool Hope University launches new apprenticeship programmes
In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, Liverpool Hope University has announced new degree apprenticeship opportunities in youth work, physiotherapy, teaching, and social work.
Liverpool Hope University is now officially listed on the Apprenticeship Providers’ Approval Register (APAR) and has become an approved apprenticeship provider.
The university is embarking on an exciting new direction, offering apprenticeship courses in key areas such as youth work, physiotherapy, teaching, and social work. These new opportunities align with Hope University’s commitment to improving social mobility, advancing social justice, and creating pathways for a more inclusive future.
This follows a successful £635,000 bid from the Office for Students (OfS), which was awarded to Liverpool Hope University to support its development into a new Department for Education approved apprenticeship training provider. This significant investment enables Liverpool Hope University to partner with employers locally and nationally, creating a variety of high-quality apprenticeship opportunities to support the region’s workforce and increase equality of opportunity across the Liverpool City Region.
Through these programmes, the university will focus on widening participation, particularly for underrepresented groups, and aims to provide an accessible route into professions that contribute to the region’s social, cultural, and economic development.
“This is an exciting new chapter for the university,” said vice chancellor of Liverpool Hope University, Professor Claire Ozanne. “By becoming an approved apprenticeship provider, we are not only enhancing our educational offering, but we are also ensuring that we can make a tangible difference to the communities we serve. These apprenticeships are an opportunity to build a more inclusive workforce and provide those from diverse backgrounds with the skills and experience needed to succeed.”
The apprenticeship programmes will work in close collaboration with a wide range of employers, from small local businesses to larger national organisations, ensuring that students gain real-world experience and contribute to the regional economy.
“This is a significant step forward for our apprenticeships strategy,” said Sue Cronin, director of apprenticeships at Liverpool Hope University. “We are proud to be offering apprenticeships in fields that directly impact the well-being and future of our society. By focusing on the areas of social work, teaching, physiotherapy and youth work, and working in close collaboration with employer partners, we are investing in the future of our communities and the workforce, while also providing clear pathways for people to succeed.”
As part of the university’s ongoing commitment to shaping education and transforming the region, a launch event will take place on Thursday, 27 March, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Hope Park Campus. This event will introduce the new apprenticeship courses and provide a platform for employers, educators, and community leaders to learn more about the opportunities available.
