Goal! Football title for Crosby Primary
A Crosby Primary School are celebrating yet another trophy to add to its growing collection of awards.
Valewood Primary School have retained the Football League Title for the fourth year in succession.
Last year saw the school win the Outstanding Commitment to Sport award at the Educate Awards, for the incredible success of its Year 6 football team and its excellent sporting ethos throughout the school.
The football team has gone from strength to strength in recent years, rejecting its underdog status and winning over 21 titles in three years.
Site manager turned football coach Michael Hutson and Year 6 teacher Robbie Burns took the reins of managing the team and encouraging pupils to get involved.
The pair have led a new approach which has included instilling team building, team spirit and most of all, fun.
Speaking at the Educate Awards last year, football coach Michael Hutson said: “Our year 6 team has been phenomenal. We won nine tournaments last year and the girls won one. We’ve been to Anfield, Goodison Park and it’s been amazing.”
Now with one more trophy under its belt, the team are looking forward to building on the success and securing even more trophies in the future.
