Final year school pupils given helping hand in preparing for the future
Final year school pupils at Winstanley College have been offered a helping hand in preparing for the future, following the announcement of the cancellation of GCSE examinations.
Hard-working staff at Winstanley have designed ‘off the shelf’ resources which can be downloaded by any Year 11 pupil from the college website. Many final year pupils are already making great use of these, which help to bridge the gap between GCSE and A-level, and prepare for college study.
One parent got in touch with the college to say: “I’d like to express my sincere gratitude for all the effort your teachers are doing to ensure my daughter is fully-prepared for college.
“She was worried she would struggle, but she has downloaded all the resources for the A-levels that she will be taking and is now feeling excited for the future”.
Some pupils have been so keen to explore their chosen A-level subjects that they have asked for more work and staff are busy responding to these requests.
Vice principal, Mel Chadwick, said: “We were concerned about how Year 11 pupils would be feeling after the shock news about their GCSEs and wanted to do something to give them a focus for the next few months. The response has been phenomenal and we are confident that we are going to have some fantastically motivated students in September”.
