Double celebration at Cathedral
There will be a double celebration at Liverpool Cathedral on Tuesday 16 June as over 1,000 Year 6 pupils from around the diocese celebrate their time at primary school and look ahead to the new chapter of starting secondary school.
Also celebrating will be the Bishop of Liverpool, the Rt Revd Paul Bayes, who will be holding his first leavers service as the Bishop of Liverpool.
A series of services will take place at the Cathedral as they welcome a total of 2,788 children over four days on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 June and Monday 22 June and Tuesday 23 June.
This year the theme is ‘The Light of the World’. Light is mentioned many times in the Bible. The hymns and readings will explore this theme throughout the service.
Jon Richardson, director of education for the Diocese of Liverpool said: “It is extremely important to give our young people an opportunity to reflect on their life at primary school. These services encourage them to look forward with optimism to the new challenges and experiences awaiting them.”
Educate Magazine will also be in attendance at the Cathedral on Tuesday 16 June bringing you a taste of the celebrations as they happen.
