Cooking up a treat
Year One pupils at Wargrave Primary School, St Helens got a real taste of Italy after visiting an Italian restaurant as part of a class project.
The pupils, who have been learning about senses, visited a local Italian restaurant, Ariete Italian Bar and Restaurant to explore the sense of taste and smell.
Restaurant manager, Eduardo Carcamo arranged for the pupils to design and make their own pizzas from scratch, with a range of toppings including cheese, tomato and pepperoni.
The children then enjoyed eating their very own crusty creations whilst enjoying the real restaurant dining experience and were able to expand on their vocabulary by describing what their pizza tasted like.
St Helens Council’s cabinet member for education and lifelong learning, Councillor Jeanette Banks, said: “What a delicious lesson this was, and what a tasty way for the children to engage with business in the community.”
