Childwall Academy celebrates Ofsted rating

Today, staff, pupils, parents, and governors at Childwall Sports and Science Academy in Liverpool are celebrating after achieving an Ofsted rating of ‘Good’, following a two-day inspection in May.

Amongst the feedback the school received, leaders were recognised for ‘working hard to improve the quality of education that pupils receive’ and introducing a ‘broad and ambitious curriculum for all pupils’.

The report also praised its ‘wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer.’

It was an improvement from Childwall Academy’s last full inspection, which was in 2018.

The school’s senior leadership team are delighted to achieve ‘Good’ across the board for quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership, and management and Sixth form provision.

Ms Vincent, headteacher at Childwall Sports and Science Academy, said: “I’m enormously proud that we’ve achieved a ‘Good’ rating in all aspects of the students’ education.

“Our students and staff always work incredibly hard, and it is excellent to have their achievements recognised by Ofsted.

“We are on the journey to outstanding and with the support of the Lydiate Learning Trust, our leaders and staff will continue to do all they can to enable the school to flourish.”

Mrs Stahler, executive headteacher and CEO of Lydiate Learning Trust, added: “This outcome is well deserved and is recognition of the determination, resilience and hard work of students and staff.

“The Trust joined forces with Childwall Academy in 2015 and we are delighted to support the school on its quest to deliver academic excellence and an ambition to engage, enable and empower all students.”

Ofsted also observed that ‘Pupils are happy at school. They value the diverse community and welcoming ethos of the school.’

A student from Year 8 said: “This is great news; it makes me feel proud of what we have achieved in our school.”

A Year 10 student added: “This result makes me feel so proud. I know that my future is in safe hands at Childwall Academy.”
