Brazil fever hits Kensington
Kensington Primary School, Liverpool is hosting the biggest celebration of all things Brazil in a week-long programme of activities and events between Thursday 3 July and Friday 11 July.
The new Lord Mayor of Liverpool Erica Kemp will be attending the opening show of Kensington Primary School’s week-long Brazilian spectacular!
The Opening Show on Thursday 3 July from 1.30 – 2.30pm, features samba drummers, dancers, singers and much more!
Key events during the week include:
- Rainforest Roadshow – featuring live spiders, snakes and bugs.
- Viva Brazil restaurants cooking master class
- Futsal, Salsa, volleyball and zumba classes
- Rock School UK Samba drumming workshops
- Fundraising ‘Happy Dance’ for Action for Brazil’s Children
The week’s events conclude on Friday 11 July with a carnival and parade from 1.30 – 3.00pm. Highlights of the Carnival Parade include two giant birds (a Toucan and Hummingbird) created by artists working with the school. The children will operate the birds themselves during the parade.
Over 60 samba drummers provided by Rock School UK and Resonate Music Hub and a balloon and confetti drop in the school hall.
Learning mentor, Chris Evans, said: “This will be an amazing week and will include a huge fundraising effort in support of the charity Action for Brazil’s Children.
“A number of organisations and businesses have given their time and services for free in support of this huge event.
“With the FIFA World Cup Final and the start of Liverpool’s Brazilica Festival immediately following our carnival, we hope to attract lots of interest in our Brazilian spectacular!”
