Alsop Memorial Garden Appeal
The Alsop Foundation Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) has launched an appeal to raise funds for a memorial garden space at Alsop High School. The garden will be dedicated in memory of former students, staff and community members who have contributed to the life of the school.
The foundation is delighted that over £5000 has already been raised to facilitate this project and will work with students alongside a landscape architect to create a stunning garden area within the school grounds.
Mr Masher, headteacher said: “We are keen to assign an area to be used as a quiet space where our students can sit, reflect and be inspired by so many people who have been associated with our school during its’ history. We are keen to involve students past and present to ensure the garden is a place where their legacy is always remembered.”
Mr Peter Bull, trustee of The Alsop Foundation CIO said: “During recent years we have sadly lost a number of members of our school community, including former staff. We would like to create a stunning garden where their contribution to the life of the school can be honoured. We would also like to remember those who have died during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
It is hoped that the garden will include a feature Alsop Memorial stone inscribed with the school motto ‘Famam Extendere Factis’ which translates to ‘We extend our fame by our deeds’
Former members of Alsop are most welcome to contribute to the appeal. The school hopes the garden will include plants and furnishings dedicated in memory of loved ones.
