Delight at St John Bosco Arts College for GCSE results 

Earlier today (22 August), students at St John Bosco Arts College collected their GCSE results as they prepare to embark on the next chapter in their educational journey. 

Excitement and enthusiasm were in the air as students eagerly collected their results, ready to see all their hard work come to fruition. 

Year 11 students arrived at 8am and were keen to celebrate their achievements with their classmates. 

Overall, the results aligned with expectations and included some fantastic success stories, including Year 11 student, Ikbal, who achieved a phenomenal 11 GCSEs at grades 8 and 9. 

Fellow student, Chloe, achieved top grades in her subjects including grades 8 and 9 and a distinction* in GCSE dance. 

Ionela also achieved four grade 9s in her impressive suite of results. 

Eva was also delighted to collect her GCSE results including grades 8, 9 and a distinction*.

This year, the school reported receiving the highest-ever number of applications to join its thriving sixth form.

One student, Macey Lea, is excited to return to Bosco in September as part of the sixth form to help her on her journey to pursue a career as a spacecraft engineer.

St John Bosco Arts College sixth form offers a wide range of subjects at A-level, including sciences, maths, English, criminology, psychology and law, to name a few. 

Some current Year 13 students shared advice for Year 11s joining the sixth form in September.

One student said: “Listen to Mrs Lyons and Miss Mooney because they help so much!”

While another student shared how welcoming the sixth form is. They said: “The relationships that I formed with the teachers always made me feel so welcome.”

Those who have chosen to pursue alternative pathways will begin working towards their futures by undergoing apprenticeships and attending other local colleges. 

Headteacher at St John Bosco Arts College, Mr Darren Gidman, said: “With immense joy and pride, we gather today to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Year 11 students as they receive their results. 

“Our mission is to provide ambitious Catholic educations that lay strong foundations for our students and communities to thrive and become the very best versions of themselves. As we come together today, we witness the tangible outcomes of their hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to their studies. 

“From everyone at Bosco, we would like to say a massive congratulations to our Year 11 students. You have embraced our vision wholeheartedly and demonstrated that with dedication, perseverance, and the support of a loving community, you can achieve incredible things.”
