Inspire Learning Teaching School Hub urges schools across Liverpool and Wirral to register Early Careers Teachers
The nominated teaching school hub for Liverpool and Wirral, Inspire Learning Teaching School Hub (TSH), is urging schools to register their early careers teachers (ECTs) on the early careers framework (ECF).
The ECF ensures that all new teachers complete their statutory two-year induction period and undergo several professional development activities and tasks.
In partnership with the world-class University College London (UCL), Inspire Learning TSH delivers the ECF programme for schools in Liverpool and Wirral.
The ECF programme is designed to allow ECTs to have additional support tailored to their needs and prepare them for their career in teaching.
Schools must register all ECTs within the first two weeks of the new academic year in September 2024. All ECTs must also be registered with an Appropriate Body (AB) for statutory induction, within the same time frame. The two components have to be registered to ensure schools provide their ECTs with the full support and benefits of the programme.
If ECTs are not registered, that period of their induction will not count, and any progress will not be backdated or count towards the programme.
Director of Inspire Learning TSH, Jane Kennedy, said: “As we approach the end of the 2023/24 academic year, we strongly urge schools to ensure their ECTs are registered with a training provider and an AB.
“In partnership with UCL, we are committed to developing world-class teachers and cultivating an educational system that works for every child.”
From September 2024, Inspire Learning TSH will serve as the main provider for AB services across Liverpool and Wirral, enabling schools to keep training, assessments, and quality assurance centralised through one provider. It is vital that all schools across our area register their ECTs with Inspire Learning TSH.
Inspire Learning TSH’s new AB role will offer a greater degree of cohesion and enhance the statutory induction experience.
Jane added: “Our role as AB enables us to support schools and their ECTs throughout every phase of their induction process, ensuring statutory requirements are met and, when necessary, making interventions.”
The full registration process for schools is detailed on Inspire Learning TSH’s website here.
