Specialist school appoints new head of autism research and development

Abbot’s Lea School in Woolton has appointed a new head of autism research and development. 

The new member of the team, Sara Muršić, will continue to develop, implement and promote the school’s innovation in research and teaching practice. 

Sara, who is originally from Croatia, moved to Liverpool in 2017 to study at Edge Hill University. She is currently completing a PhD which looks at experiences and engagement of students with ADHD and their neurotypical peers in learning with augmented reality tools. Alongside this, Sara was also a Graduate Teaching Assistant on several modules around inclusive education and practice at the university. 

Prior to her research activity in Liverpool, Sara was studying in Latvia where she gained a Master’s Degree in Educational Diversity. 

The head of autism research and development role at Abbot’s Lea School is a unique position that will split its time between working with students, families and the staff to create new and effective methods of working at Abbot’s Lea School, as well as developing new projects, establishing new professional contacts and offering expert advice in order to maintain and develop further the school’s exceptional practice. 

Sara will also look to share knowledge and latest research to drive evidence-led practice and offer an outreach service to external providers.

I hope my work can create the awareness and visible impact for the whole community. Based in the outstanding school that is committed to providing the highest quality of education for students, I have a great opportunity to share that practice and expertise with other schools and organisations locally, nationally and internationally.
