Schools fundraise for Children in Need!

Tonight sees the return of Children in Need to our screens, an annual fundraising gala which features special performances and celebrity guests, in the hope to raise a record breaking sum of money for the charity.

Friday’s show includes a special edition of Strictly Come Dancing, featuring Sir Bruce Forsyth, pop group S Club 7, who will be performing for the first time since 2003 and a new cartoon starring Tom and Jerry.

In 2013, the appeal made a record £49.6m, including £31.1m raised on the night. The BBC have enlisted a long list of famous faces to help them break last year’s record.

Musical performances will include Susan Boyle, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and One Direction live from Albert Square, while the casts of West End musicals Made in Dagenham and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are set to take the stage.

Gareth Malone and his All-Star Choir will also be performing their official Children in Need single, Wake me Up. The song is expected to top the charts on Sunday, according to midweek figures by The Official Charts Company. Members of the ensemble include comic Jo Brand, Radio 1 DJ Alice Levine and presenter Mel Giedroyc.

The six-and-a-half hour extravaganza will be broadcast on BBC One from the BBC’s Elstree studios from 7.30 pm.
