Hello, hello! What’s going on here then?
St. Thomas C of E Primary School in Lydiate has been treated to a special, day-long visit from Merseyside Police. The school welcomed the police team and were treated to a display of the equipment and vehicles used each day by the force to fight crime.
The children were able to sit in three motorway patrol cars and had great fun in switching on the sirens and flashing lights. They had a brief talk from the motorway police and then were treated to a talk from a dog handler and demonstration from two police dogs. To finish the day the police helicopter circled and hovered over the school giving the children a fantastic finale.
Deputy Headteacher Paul Robinson, said: “I would like to thank the Operational Support Unit roads department for giving the children the chance to witness up close the fantastic work they do for us. It is important that all our children understand the vital role that the police play in our lives, and this was a great opportunity to forge links between ourselves and the local police force.”
